4. STUDENT WORK/ACHIEVEMENTS
Pride Day
On July 3rd, some of our students hosted a Pride Day event at school to celebrate our LGBT+ community.
Student leaders, Harvey, Rory and Annie, worked on creating some themed activities as well as a ‘Queer Icon’ themed dress-up.
Continuing from last years' event the Pride Day celebrations supported awareness and acceptance of LGBT+ people. Students took the opportunity to use chalk and draw the various Pride flags on the ground out the front of the school.
The organisers are grateful to those who participated and hope the event can continue in 2026.
June is traditionally Pride Month because of the Stonewall Riots in the US on June 28th 1969, where people protested against a police raid at the Stonewall Bar – known as a popular Gay Bar.
Attendance Lunch
During the last week of school, we hosted our end of term Attendance Lunch to celebrate high attendance and significant improvement in attendance.
This term we had 57 students invited to the attendance lunch. There were 50 students whose attendance exceeded 80% and 7 students who had demonstrated significant improvement in their attendance. Congratulations to all who were invited. A huge thanks to the catering team for providing a fantastic meal for our students.

Chess Board Project - Charlie
Charlie has been challenging himself with a project on 3D modelling. An avid chess player, he wanted to learn how to design the pieces using Blender and then build them so he can make his own chess set. He started in Term 1 by focussing on a knight. Aspects such as the horsehair had him thinking about how he would create it. Continuing with his project in Term 2 as he wished to complete the set, he was able to produce all the pieces to a standard he was happy with and even fitted in some workshop time to create a wooden board to play on.
“The pieces all look the same colour (in the picture) because they have primer on them. I will paint them black and white and then they will be ready to play.” Charlie said.
“If I was able to access a mentor for my project I wouldn’t have had as many challenges as I did.”
Charlie’s project was very Big Picture in terms of the different skills he learned and refined in the process, along with the empirical reasoning and quantitative reasoning required to be successful.
Term 3 Learning Plan Meetings
Thank you to all students, families and staff who participated in the Learning Plan meetings. All of our young people have made a plan for their learning and are going to do some exciting projects this term!
